<p>The story relates the adventures of a national serviceman in the mid-fifties, including training in Aldershot and a harrowing account of terrorist attacks in occupied Suez, finishing with adventures in Libya. The author describes the humorous side of army life and some incidents are pure farce. Boxing matches and football games are side-splittingly funny and pranks played on officers and RSMs are almost unbelievable. There is an epic journey, dangerous and hilarious, across the Sahara on a second-hand motorbike (with Rock-n-Roll painted on the fuel tank) with insufficient supplies. Escapades behind the lines during the Suez War are truly memorable. The story, although fictional, is based on the author's experiences and is written in autobiographical style. An enjoyable read.
